Praise God for a great first week together as Christ Community Church! We began a new sermon series in the book of Philippians titled, "Citizens of Heaven," this past Sunday. Philippians is a great place to learn how God brings diverse people together by the gospel and for the sake of the gospel. If you missed the sermon or would like to listen to it again, you can find it on the church's new website: www.cccgv.org.
In an effort to communicate well during this transition, we will be sending out e-mails with various updates and announcements. Here are a few items to be aware of and praying for this week:
- As we seek to integrate our various ministry teams, we are hosting another short meeting after church this Sunday, August 5th for all current & interested volunteers to serve in the Setup, Teardown, & Hospitality Ministry Team.
- The leaders are working to resolve several business-related details to complete the merger process. This includes updating the name of the church with the State, consolidating resources, updating our lease with the Foothills Event Center, etc.
- We would ask that you continue to give either to "Redeemer Community Church," or "Veritas Church," for the next several weeks until these details are finalized.
- If you have been a current member of Veritas or Redeemer and now a member of Christ Community Church, please be sure to sign the membership covenant and turn it into one of the elders. There are extra copies at the back table available on Sunday. Should you have any questions about this covenant, please do not hesitate to speak to one of the elders.
- If you can make it, please join us for prayer before service each Sunday at 9:30 am.
Finally, please mark on your calendar that we will be having an official launch for the newly merged church on Sunday, August 12th. This is an opportunity for us to rally around what God has called us to be & do as a church. While not strictly an "outreach," the official launch Sunday would be a great opportunity to invite others to learn more about Christ through our church.
We are filled with gratitude by what God has done in bringing Redeemer Community Church and Veritas Church together, and excited about what God will do in and through Christ Community Church in the future. We are reminded of Paul's words to his beloved fellow believers in Philippi who partnered with him in the work of the gospel:
And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.
(Philippians 1:6 ESV)
May God bless our new partnership established by the gospel and for the sake of the gospel in our community!
Blessings,
Christ Community Church Elders
